intimate hatcher pass elopement
September sunshine, crisp mountain air, and two best friends in love: Jason and Lauren’s Alaska elopement was full of warmth, laughter, and the sweetest moments (including their adorable dog, Lucky!). From playing fetch in their backyard to hiking Hatcher Pass with their pizza, this day was the perfect mix of adventure and ease. Exactly what an intimate Alaska elopement should feel like.
Inside, they took their time helping each other get ready. I know it’s not for everyone - I love a good first look surprise moment as much as the next person - but these quiet moments preparing for your day together can be so special.
We headed out for Hatcher Pass (but not before stopping for our Blaze Pizza order on the way). Hatcher Pass is one of my favorite spots for Alaska elopements - there is so much variety and wilderness. We arrived as Summit Lake and were greeted with some rare autumn sunlight peeking over the mountains. The two of them laughed and ran along the ridgeline, very in love and in their own little world. We played with the light and the reflections and the mud on the hem of Lauren’s gown.
As the sun starting dipping lower in the sky, we hiked out past a beautiful stream with mountains towering behind it - tell me that isn’t the most perfect spot to eat pizza on your elopement day?
The light was perfect; the drama of the sunbeams bursting out from behind the mountains is literally what I picture when I think of epic. Alaska really showed off for this elopement day and I am obsessed.
Jason and Lauren’s day was everything I love about Alaska elopements — spontaneous, playful, and filled with real moments. I loved their comfortable, playful ease with each other. I loved how Jason called Lauren “sweet girl” throughout the day.
